Wild camping poor visibility navigation Snowdonia is a great skill to get on top of.

When taking into account the campsite we need to shelter from the wind so a forecast of the wind directions helps particularly if it changes over night. Will it flood if it rains over night? Suitable place to go to the toilet so it doesn’t compromise the camp site. Good water source. Flat enough?

Can we use a compass efficiently? What are the downsides to GPS? Does it always work? What about batteries? Is it waterproof?

Welsh 3000s 14 peaks challenge traversing the main ridge

The Welsh 3000s over 2 days is still quite a challenge and a much more pleasant way to achieve all the peaks over 3000ft. in Snowdonia. Rachel put together a team of friends which took this challenge on. What a good job they did. The first day was Snowdon and the Glyder range and the second day the Carneddau range. It was a tough two days and they pulled through! Congratulationsits no mean challenge! A few photos have been put together showing some of the journey over the two days across every 3000ft peaks in Snowdonia. Well done everybody. Cheers Joe at Mountaineering Joe

Rock climbing on the sea cliffs is as about exposed as you can get. That abseil in with all that commitment, the friction, the sea crashing in below you …all adds to the excitement of the rock climb. Biddy and Jamie just loved all this and had a great day on Castell Helen with perfect weather. Multi pitch rock climbing in North wales …if the mountains are not in condition then the sea cliffs can get some perfect climbing! Multi pitch rock climbing with Mountaineering Joe

Rock scrambling in SnowdoniaRock scrambling in Snowdonia. Katie and Bill spent the weekend rock scrambling on ground up to grade 3. Learning rope techniques in order to cope with this type of ground safely. We started on grade 1 with short roping techniques and migrated into grade 2. This is when the rope started to get used. Using a short pitching technique, we kept things moving fast. Finally, we ended up on grade 3 ground where full pitching was being employed. The next day we went on to the North Ridge of Tryfan scrambling up to grade 2 using techniques learned on day one. A great few days rock scrambling in the Ogwen Valley in Snowdonia.
