Rock scrambling in Snowdonia. The weather was far from perfect but we had two good days out rock scrambling in Snowdonia. Mandy and Craig really powered up grade 2 and even grade 3 rock scrambling with ease! The North ridge of Tryfan then down the south ridge followed by Seniors Ridge direct and above were just a couple of the scrambles. Snowdonia is just excellent for rock scrambling. Mountaineering Joe

Jack and I were out in Idwal valley practicing rope techniques on steep grade 3 ground. You need good rope techniques to handle this type of ground safely. Oli and Tom were learning rope techniques for rock scrambling in Snowdonia. They wanted to extend their walking experience to more adventurous day out. We practised moving with a rope and short pitching which was great fun!

Protecting rock scrambles or moving over steep ground after or before climbing a rock climb doesn’t have to be slow. Despite the bad weather at the weekend Kevin and I had a great time Rock scrambling in Cwm Idwal on the route North West Face on the Saturday and the sun on the East face of Tryfan. We climbed around Bastow Buttress and the Nor Nor area. Kevin was practicing advanced rope techniques for scrambling. The ability to move but safely over steep ground is great training not only for rock scrambling in the UK but also for training for the Alps. Rock scrambling with Mountaineering Joe.

Walking in Snowdonia on Tryfan. Walking on one of the best mountains in Snowdonia. Tryfan is the a mountain where you cannot simply walk it without scrambling at some point.. a true mountain! Robert and Ellis had a great time on the North ridge. Ellis is a great mountaineer. He is only seven? (if I remember correctly) he climbed the mountain without a care in the world telling his dad to keep up! An excellent day out. Search for the mountains Ellis no matter what the distance!
