Lindsey and Dylan are preparing for the Welsh 3000s challenge at the end of the month. This week they tackled the knife edged Crib Goch ridge. Dylan was just a natural .. very relaxed as if he had done it many times and Lindsey soon got on top of it and by the end of the edge she was relaxed and flying! The Welsh 3000s will be no problems for them!

The pictures show some excellent views across Snowdonia. Whether you want to attempt this in 24 hours or at a more relaxing pace over 2 days staying in mountain style accommodation deep in Snowdonia have a look at http://mountaineeringjoe.co.uk/welsh-3000s-14-peaks-challenge/ and email or call for a chat with Joe

The weekend was spend looking at direct and in direct belays and anchor selection. A lot of time on Navigation using Contour interpretation navigation in order that the leader can spend time selecting the best route for their group running the navigation in the background. Hand railing natural features like gullies and ridges enable really efficient navigation on steep ground. Mark really got to grips with this and was strong on the geology and flora.

A great day out rock scrambling on the Crib Goch. Scrambling up the south ridge with it’s great rock steps and across the exposed knife edge ridge, scrambling up all the rock peaks and then on to the summit of Snowdon. An excellent day out with some really good exposed scrambling. Rock scrambling with Mountaineering Joe

Thanks to Raj, Keiran, Louise, Bani, and Dan what a great group I had on our Mountain skills course this March. We had a great time spent over 2 days navigating and discussing mountains skills and the environment which all leads up to walking in the mountains safely. Topics discussed included planning your route, route finding, clothing systems, mountain weather, emergency situations and of course navigation You also get me to chat in the future to keep developing those mountain skills.

Ice climbing in the Cairngorms. A good day out in Coire An t-Sneachda above Aladdin’s Buttress we were on Central left hand with a steep ice pitch at the end which has had a good ice build up during the season. We went up to do Pygmy Ridge but it was total out of condition and noticed the ice pitch in the next gully!

Ice climbing in the Cairngorms. A excellent day out in Coire An t-Sneachda on Aladdin’s Buttress we started on Aladdin’s Mirror direct IV which had quite ice build up during the season. It has a couple of ice ledges which you can place ice screws easily. An excellent little route but longer and steeper this year.
